We are always accepting application for new members. You can be trained from somewhere else, and join our agency, or you can have zero training and join us. We have many positions that a member can serve in. Active Interior Firefighter, Active Exterior Firefighter, Active Auxiliary Committee, Active Fire Police, Active Truck Driver/Pump Operator, Active Radio Operator, Active EMS Responder and Service Member. You need to be 16 years of age to join and can start active firefighting at 18. We offer free training, free equipment called PPE for each active member. We will teach you how to drive and operate a firetruck, regardless of your driving experience. Members can get a $200 income tax credit from NYS or get a 10% reduction in your taxable assessment for your School taxes and your County Property Taxes. We have a supplement Insurance policy for all members that supplements your income beyond Volunteer Firefighter Benefits thru NYS Workers Comp.. We are another family that takes care of each other as we take care of the community. We offer department training that's free to members, we also have State Instructor trained classes at the county training center, or at the Montgomery County Emergency Services building, some courses are taught at our station, some at other stations around the county. Your also able to take state courses in other counties if you choose to do so. A volunteer position as a Firefighter is something that can't be explained. Doing what we do, for no compensation other than the feeling of knowing we are helping others in their darkest times, or of greatest loss, is greater than any compensation! If you want to feel that feeling, we got a place for you! We are at the Firehouse every Thursday night, each month, except major holidays. The first Thursday of every month is our Membership Meetings. The Last Thursday of each month is our Board of Directors Meeting. The Thursdays in between, are Drill nights. We start each week at 7PM, unless a special drill or meeting is called, folks are always welcome to stop and visit us. Applications can be picked up in person or there is a link shared below.
