Purchases Fouts 3,000 Tanker to Support Rural ResponseBulldog Fire Apparatus is proud to announce the Town of Glen Vol. Fire Department’s purchase of a new Fouts Brothers 3,000 Gallon Tanker. The apparatus will replace two aging trucks in the department’s fleet, combining water-hauling capacity and back-up pumper capabilities into one truck to support the department’s rural response needs.
For the Town of Glen Vol Fire Dept., purchasing a new fire truck came down to making every dollar and every gallon count. Building on an established relationship with Bulldog Fire Apparatus for fleet maintenance and parts, the department’s search began for a pre-built wet side tanker.
“Bulldog helped us identify a configuration that closely matched what we needed, giving us a strong starting point without the time and expense of a fully custom build,” said Department President, Jd Downing.

Seeing the truck firsthand and experiencing its capabilities gave the department a clear picture of how one apparatus could replace two while meeting its needs. Working with Bulldog’s team, the department identified the modifications needed to make the truck fit its operation. Bulldog’s in-house upfitting capabilities made it possible to turn that plan into reality, with equipment storage, access, and functionality tailored for the department.
Bulldog is completing the following modifications to the truck.
Installing roll out shelves in front lower body compartmentsAdding dedicated storage for extinguishers and pump fittingsMounting air pack brackets in the rear corner compartmentsRecertifying the pump from 1000 GPM to 1250 GPMInstalling ladder brackets on both sides, including provisions for an attic ladder and roof ladderInstalling OnSpot automatic tire chainsTwo-tone painting the cab white over red to match the customer’s current fleetFrom maintaining the existing fleet to helping with its future response needs, Bulldog Fire Apparatus is proud to support the Town of Glen Vol. Fire Dept. with a solution that fits its needs, budget, and mission. Whats a Emergency?
its very important to know when to call 911 and when not to. In recent years the EMS system has been stretched very thin. The amount of calls that come in for non life threatening emergency's has caused a burn out effect to many agencies. Not only that, but when emergency crews are out dealing with something that's not truly a emergency, then the resources are tied up when a true emergency comes in.
The following things listed are true emergency's, These are 911 calls that should absolutely be made:
Cardiac Arrest, Unconscious person(s), Strokes, Seizures, Heart Attacks, Sever Blood Loss, Complex Births, Trapped Patients, Critical Injuries, Shooting's and Stabbing's, Difficulty Breathing.
The following is a partial list of things that may be wrong that shouldn't be cause to call 911 or EMS:
General Illness, the Flu, the Common Cold, Sore or Achy Body, Sprains and Strains, Vomiting, Headache, Stubbed Toes, Anything else that can be treated by your family Dr, the Urgent Care center or self transport to a local ER.
It sometimes takes more than a half an hour to get a Ambulance to a EMS calls these days. Sometimes, the Ambulance comes from Schenectady County, Schoharie County, Fulton County, and even Herkimer County. In that time most people could take themselves, or ask a family member or neighbor to take them to the Hospital, Urgent Care or even a Dr's Office in a personal vehicle.
